Rules and ExpectationsAt Siegel Middle School, we have set very high standards for all of our students. In order for each student to learn and develop their skills to the best of their ability in our Physical Education class, we expect students to follow all rules and expectations. We aim to foster an environment that is conducive to cooperation, teamwork and student improvement.

Fitness LogsIn order to help meet Physical Education State Standards 4.1.3 and 4.2.3 each student must document any kind of physical activity done outside of the school day. We require each student to accumulate at least 4 hours total of physical activity/exercise. We encourage students to complete more than 4 hours to help better benefit their physical fitness and create healthy lifelong habits. Fitness Logs must be completed and signed by a parent/guardian at the end of the quarter.

Composition NotebooksStudents are required to keep a notebook/composition book for the duration of Physical Education class. This helps them practice developing ideas and improve writing skills. Each day they will answer question(s) about State Standards with 3 to 5 complete, detailed sentences in order to make a connection between the standards and our activity of the day. Students should also to be able to relate skills to other games and real life situations. At the end of the quarter each notebook will be collected and reviewed for a grade.

Participation & EffortOne of the most important things about skill development is practice. Therefore, we require students, to the best of their ability, participate and give full effort each and every day. Our goal is for every student to leave our class with confidence that they have bettered their mental as well as physical skills. Participation and effort -which includes dressing out- are the biggest portions of their grade.
